Lauchlin is a scenic and lighting designer and a full member of the Associated Designers of Canada and IATSE ADC 659.

 

He is a multiple design award winner with nineteen Jessie Richardson Theatre Award nominations and three wins, and the recipient of an Ovation Award.

 

Lauchlin has been working professionally since 2005 and graduated from UBC in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre design and production. Since graduation he has worked full-time as a professional designer working with companies across BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario including Arts Club Theatre, Chemainus Theatre Festival, Richmond’s Gateway Theatre, Firehall Arts Centre, Alley Theatre, ITSAZOO, Western Canada Theatre, RealWheels, Pacific Theatre, Studio 58, Vancouver Moving Theatre, Douglas College, Delinquent Theatre, Native Earth, PI Theatre and Mortal Coil Performance.

 

Lauchlin’s work emphasizes kinetic movement and dimensional form and he is known for creating transformative designs that often take the form of intricate puzzles. He loves all types of theatre ranging from more traditional staging to site-specific spectacle to puppetry.
